Marketing campaigns must be dynamic and adaptable so that go-to-market teams can experiment, fail fast, and pivot.
Many of the marketing woes that we’ve heard predominantly centered around reprints when the product pictures or URL changes after the season promotions were over. And customers ended up in dead-links, faced with 404 errors or worse – getting redirected to competitors' websites.
These were costly mistakes because this essentially drives high-intent prospects and customers out of the funnel right at the moment of engagement and demonstrated interest.
With a powerful tool like Marqr, Marketing can be one of those rare functions that does (and should) not have the pressure to measure twice and cut once. Because Marqr allows you to edit Dynamic QR Codes.
How to Edit QR Codes on Marqr
You can update your destination URL, PDF files, Contact Cards, and Link in Bios without reprinting your flyers, posters, or packaging any number of times on Marqr. What Parts of a QR Code Can Be Edited?
The Dynamic QR Code on Marqr is extremely versatile and editable because it points to a short URL, which is then redirected to the URL destination or PDF is hosted.
In contrast, a static QR code hard codes the destination directly into the QR Code and therefore cannot be updated or revised as per your future needs.
When you use Dynamic QR Codes on Marqr you can edit these 4 aspects:
1. Link or URL Destination on Website QR Codes
When you change the URL or the destination on the QR Code, the user is redirected to the specific URL or website link that you have most recently added on the QR Code. This is perfect for time-sensitive offers, seasonal menus, or changes in your product, service offering, or brand Identity.
Step-by-step guide: Edit Link or Destination
- Log into your Marqr Account.
- Go to the Website Link tab from the side navigation bar.
- Click on the Pencil Icon on the right-hand side to edit the QR Code.
- Add your updated URL on the dialog box on the screen and click Save.
2. Content hosted within your PDF QR Codes
Within the Document QR Codes, you can replace the existing PDF document that has been hosted without changing or creating a new QR code. Secondly, you can choose to add or edit your PDF display page.
Within the PDF Display page, you can add:
- Your brand or company’s logo, website, and name
- Context to your document, such as giving a description text letting the user know what to expect
- Lead magnets and capture details of your prospects by checking on ‘Enable lead capture’ and selecting the input fields.
Step-by-step guide: Edit Content within your Documents
- Log into your Marqr Account.
- Go to the Documents tab from the side navigation bar.
- Click on the Pencil Icon on the right-hand side to edit the QR Code.
- Add a new PDF to replace your currently hosted file or add or customize your PDF display page.
- Check the ‘Enable Lead Capture’ checkbox if you’d like to get the user’s details before they access the document.
- Click on ‘Save’ when you’ve made the changes to your satisfaction.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I update a QR code after it has already been printed?
Yes, provided you created a dynamic QR code from your Marqr account. Dynamic codes use a redirect mechanism that allows you to change the destination URL or linked content at any time through your provider's dashboard without altering the physical code pattern
What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
The primary difference is flexibility. Static QR codes encode information directly into the pattern, meaning it is permanent and unchangeable. Dynamic QR codes encode a short redirect URL, which allows you to update the destination and track scan data like location and device type.
How can I create a static QR code on Marqr?
You can create unlimited static QR codes using the Free QR Code Generation Tool on Marqr.io
Can a static QR code be converted into a dynamic one?
No, a static QR code cannot be converted into a dynamic one once it has been generated. To get dynamic features like editability and tracking, you must create a brand-new dynamic QR code from the start.
What happens to my scan analytics if I update the content?
One of the main benefits of dynamic codes is that your scan history remains intact. The analytics stay connected to the original code, allowing you to track performance over time even after you have updated the destination or content.
